Agile teams!
Do you get a sense of déjà vu in every Retro?
Do the same problems keep coming back, again and again…
Aren’t you tired of it? 🙂
Question: In the Retrospective ritual you decided on a whole bunch of high-priority improvement actions. (Step 4: Decide What to Do)
So what comes next?
Answer: As a team (the Development Team), we add at least 1 high-priority improvement action to the next Sprint Backlog. We do add it, we should add it—just go ahead and add it. 🙂
If you’re already doing this, great, keep it up… You’re awesome. 🙂
Maybe you’d like to share a few improvements that worked well for you.
The Scrum Guide, updated in 2020, says exactly the same thing:
“… The most impactful improvements are addressed as soon as possible. They may even be added to the Sprint Backlog for the next Sprint.“
And the 2017 Scrum Guide puts it this way:
“… To ensure continuous improvement, it includes at least one high priority process improvement identified in the previous Retrospective meeting.”
